The following of John’s children became "Barnardo Home Children", that is, orphans taken care of by Dr. Barnardo who sent many to Canada and Australia to be adopted. Richard went in 1914, Elizabeth in 1915, George and William date unknown~ all to Canada. John went to Australia, but maybe not as a child.

Last known address of Sarah was 16 Rendal St., Everton, Merceyside, Lancashire, England.

Jean Little’s novel "Orphan at My Door" was published by Scholastic. It tells the story of an eleven-year-old girl living in Ontario in the 1890s, whose family took in an orphan child from England under the Barnardo Home Children Program.
