Transcript of Wilson Maddox's will:

To all men whom it may concern be it known that I Wilson Maddox of Shelby County and State of Kentucky do hereby constitute and ordain this my last will and testament disanulling & making and any and every will heretafore made by me hereby. Notifying and confirming this to be my last will and testament in the following manner and form.

1s-I have given unto my son David Maddox and his heirs forever in property of one kind or other one hundred forty five dollars.

2nd I have given my son John Maddox & to his heirs forever in property of one kind or other one hundred and twenty three dollars.

3rd I have given my son Elijah Maddox & to his heirs forever in property of one kind or other one hundred forty three dollars.

4th I have given to my son Wilson Maddox & to his heirs forever in property of one kind or other one hundred forty three dollars.

5th I have given to my son Thomas Maddox and his heirs forever in property of one kind or other one hundred & eight dollars.

6th I have given to my daughter Jane Maddox & to her heirs forever in property of one kind or other one hundred thirty two dollars.

7th I have given to my Daughter Sarah Maddox & to her heirs forever in property of one kind or other one hundred & seven dollars.

8th I have given my daughter Elizabeth Carling & to her heirs forever in money & other property to the amount of one hundred and fifty three dollars.

9th I have given to my daughter Mary Mccann in property of one kind or other one hundred thirteen dollars which I give to her and her heirs forever.

Otherwise as may be _____ by my executors most profitable and advantagious to my children and making each child equal that is after making each child with what they have ___ equal. To my Daughter Elizabeth Carling who has the amount of one hundred and fifty three dollars I then divide that my five daughters Jane, Sarah, Elizabeth, Mary and Delilah receive of the process of my Estate one hundred dollars each which I give unto them and their heirs forever. And I further give unto five sons David, John, Elijah, Wilson & Miles and to their hires forever fifty dollars each and whatever remains of my estate if any I desire to be equally divided amoung all my children. And inasmuch as I have not obtained a deed for the land I live on as yet but hold a bond on my land Davis & Thomas Maddox for a deed when called on and should I fail obtaining said deed before my decease I hereby fully authorise my Wife Delilah Maddox to apply and obtain the said deed for the benefit of herself and children according to the _____ of this my last will & testament vesting in her all the power I pofess my self in obtaining the same. And I further hereby ordain constitute and appoint Stephen W. Maddox & Edward King executors of this my last will & testament.

Given under my hand and seal this fourth day of April one thousand eight hundred and thirty four. (next paragraph unreadable but seems to been added when the will was probated in 1834 by the seal)

Some sources list Wilson's birth as 1754, I use 1757 as shown in his veteran records and most other places.
1779 tax/census: owned 440 acres on Lyman Creek Road 12 miles north of Green River.
