STEPHEN MADDOX

February 3, 1662

 

 

In the name of God Amen.  This Second Day of September in the ffourteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King Charles the Second Anno Dom One thousand Sixteen hundred Sixty two. I STEPHEN MADDOX of Cursitors Alley in the County of Middlex Barbour Chirurgion, being Sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory (praised be God) Doe make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following:

 

First I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator who gave it.  And my Desire is that my body may be decently buried in the parish ______ of St. Peter ____ London.  As for the ___ which God in his good hands hath bestowed upon me I give and dispose them in manner & form following:

 

That is to say ffirst I give & bequeath unto my loving brother Samuell H. Maddox ffive pounds.

Item.  I give to my Brother John Maddox ffive pounds.

Item.  I give to my Brother Joshua Maddox five pounds.

Item.  I give &  bequeath unto my Loveing kinsman Mr. Edward Maddox and to his loving wife Mrs. Debora Maddox one ring __pert.

Item to my ____ Mr. Jefferson Maddox one ring.

Item.  To my Cozin Mr. Stephen Vennables Goldsmith one ring.

Item.  To his son Farmer? Donnessey/Gourley? one ring.

Item to Mr. Thomas Barnworth one ring.

Item to Mr. John Dodinsson one ring.

Item to my Land Lady one ring.

Item to Mr. Thomas Davi___ one ring.

Item to Mr. George Dophin one ring.

 

Item I give & bequeath all and every these my Goods, personal & ____ to Bisso Bond ?

Item I give a Sum of money ___ unto the Servant or otherwise houses & things my __ L__unto being ___to aforesaid with my perishables & private ____ with freewill? Deposing ___ may not exceed Ewin___ pounds unto my said loveing kinsmen Mr. Edward Maddox Lying way whom ___

 

Item I hereby appoint & nominate sole A’rs of this my laste will & Test’t.  And I doe hereby rebeal all other wills & testaments whatsoever heretofore made by me.
