In the name of God Amen. I Alice Maddocke of the Citty of Chester, widdow being sick and weak of Body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory praise bee therfore given to Almighty God, doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following
 
That is to say [?] first and primriyally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, hopeing through the merits & Dath and passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgivenesse of all my sinns, and to inherit everlasting life. And my body I commit to the earth to bee decently intered att the discretion of my Executors here after named. And as touching the disposition of all such Temporall estate, as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow on mee I give and dispose thereof as followeth
 
And first I give devise and bequeath unto my Daughter Alice Maddocke, her Executors, Admes, and Assignes all my right, interest, Tennantright, Terme of yeares, and time to come of and in one messuage or Dwelling howse with itts Appurtennces now in my Actuall possession situate in the Castle lane of the said Citty.

Alsoe I give and bequeath unto my sonne Abell Maddocke the sume of one hundred and twenty pounds
Alsoe I give and bequeath unto my sonne Ezerhia Maddocke the summe of two hundred pounds
Alsoe I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Rachell Maddocke the summe of one hundred and twenty pounds
Alsoe I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Alice Maddocke the summe of two hundred pounds
Alsoe I give and bequeath unto my loving ffather Anthony Nickalls the summe of twenty pounds

And to my Daughter Deborah Reece the like summe of twenty pounds in money and six paire of my best fflaxen sheetes and one dozen of my best Huckaback Napkins, and my best Huckaback Table cloath.

Alsoe I give to my sonne Nathan Maddocke the summe of Twenty pounds
and to my sonne in law Peter Dicks and his wife the summe of one shilling a peice
and to my sister in lawy, Sarah Maddocke, the summe of five pounds

Alsoe I doe give and bequeath unto my said Three Daughters, Deborah, Rachell and Alice, all my weareing Apparrell to bee equally Devided amongst them

Alsoe I doe give all the rest residue and remaynder of my personal estate whatsoever[?] or wheresoever to my sonne Ezerhia and my said daughter Alice, Equally to bee divded betwixt them

And I doe hereby ordaine, institute and make my loving ffather Anthony Nickalls and my loveing freind Raph Massie of the said Citty of Chester shoomaker - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [a dashed line] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Exts of this my last Will and Testamt.

And I doe alsoe ordaine and make my loveing brother in law Joseph Maddocke and my loveing freind -- James Coxton [?] overseers of the same and I doe hereby revoake disanull & make voyd all former Wills and Testamts by mee made.

 

In witnesse whereof I have hereunto set and put my hand and seale This ffifth - - - day of March in the first yeare of the reigne of our most Gratious Soveraigne Ld James the second by the grace of God of England the King. And in the yeare of our Ld 1684.

Be itt Knowne unto all men by these presents that whereas I Alice Maddocke of the citty of Chester widdow have made and Declared my last Will and Testament in writing beareing date the ffifth day of this inst March

 

I the said Alice Maddocke doe by this present Codicill reafirme and ratifie my said last Will and Testament and by these presents doe ordaine wish--- and make my loveing freinds Richard Sasratt, Benjamin Bankes and Roger Haddocke overseers of my said last Will and Testamt

 

desireing them to take care and charge of my children Ezeckiah Maddocke and Alice Maddocke and to see that my said last Will and Testament bee punctually performed in all poynts and my meaneing is that this Codicill and schedule bee and bee Ajudged to bee parte of my said last Will and Testament, as fully and Amply in every respect as if the same were soe declared and sett downe in my said last Will and Testament.

 

In wittnesse whereof I the said Alice Maddocke have hereunto set and put my hand and seale this sixth day of March 1684.
